This first exploration into yoga comes in a pint-sized package full of fun. In this 35 minute class we explore yoga through stories, songs and games. Loads of praise is given for trying something new and children are allowed the freedom to watch or wander if they aren't ready to participate. This is a great class for building social skills and learning to share with our friends. At the end of each class children are encouraged to cozy up with their caregiver and listen to a lullaby to introduce the concept of making time for relaxation. Parents are encouraged to participate to the best of their abilities. (4 year old siblings are welcome to join us)
Yoga Dudes, boys in grades 4-7
Our first 'boys only' yoga class! Yoga Dudes class will be led by the participants. Each week we'll discuss where we are and where we want to go next. Kids will be encouraged to challenge themselves while also listening to the limits of their body. This is a great class for student athletes looking to build strength and flexibility. As each class is tailored to the students we'll look at the upcoming sports seasons and how we can use yoga to enhance perfomance on the field and court. Yoga is also a great activity for boys not interested in competitive sports. Each class will also include breathwork and building mindfulness skills to increase school performance.
Preschool Yoga Movement ages 3-6 and Kid's Yoga for ages 4-7
In these classes we work to balance high energy fun with the quieter side of yoga. Songs, stories and games are used to develop our theme for each 45 minute class. More balancing poses and fun tricks, like practicing handstands on the wall and obstacle courses, are included to build confidence and body awareness. Each class is tailored to meet the needs of the specific group. This class ends with a teacher-led visualization or lullaby. The 4-7 year olds class begins to expand upon the idea of meditation and brief discussion periods. These are both child only classes (sorry mom and dad).
Yoga Girls, girls in grades 1-4
This 60 minute class includes opportunities for discussions, an introduction to into yoga philosophy, and craft projects, as well as exploring yoga poses through games and simple flows. This is a great class for those new to yoga as well as girls who have been practicing longer.
